How to Inject Semaglutide

Simple step-by-step guide for subcutaneous injection.

Prepare Your Supplies

Gather your pre-filled pen, alcohol swabs, and sharps container. Let medication reach room temperature if refrigerated.

Wash Your Hands

Clean hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Dry completely.

Choose Injection Site

Abdomen (2 inches from navel), upper thigh, or upper arm. Rotate sites weekly.

Clean the Site

Wipe the injection area with an alcohol swab using circular motions. Allow to air dry.

Inject the Medication

Pinch skin, insert needle at 90-degree angle, press plunger fully, hold 10 seconds, then release.

Recommended Injection Sites

Abdomen
Most common, easy to reach. Avoid 2" around navel.

Upper Thigh
Front or outer area, middle third of thigh.

Upper Arm
Back of upper arm. May need assistance.
Rotate sites weekly to prevent lipodystrophy (skin changes) at injection sites.

Storage Instructions

Proper storage ensures medication effectiveness and safety.

Before First Use

  • Store in refrigerator at 2-8C (36-46F)
  • Do not freeze - discard if frozen
  • Keep in original carton to protect from light

After First Use

  • Can store at room temp (up to 30C) for 28 days
  • Or continue refrigeration
  • Discard after 28 days regardless of amount left
